Staying Fit
FIT FRIDAY – EXERCISING DURING THE COLDER MONTHS

Fall is finally here and although it does have its many perks (such as fall boots and sweaters, pumpkin-flavored drinks, and beautiful scenery), this season does not exactly encourage outdoor activities (colder temperatures, less daylight, etc.). Chillier weather gives many people plenty of excuses not exercise and stay fit, however, we are here to give you tips on how to stay active during colder months; this means that there are ways to stay active, so no excuses!)

If exercising outdoors is a must, then make sure you are taking the proper precautions before starting your workout regimen. According to FitDay.com, you want to be sure to protect your hands, feet, and ears, from the elements. This includes wearing gloves, hats, scarves, extra pairs of socks, and so on. Another thing you need to be aware of is darkness – because there are fewer hours of daylight in the fall and winter, and it becomes darker much faster, you want to be sure to wear reflective attire to warn others around you.

WebMD provides wonderful outdoor activities that you and your family can engage in during the colder months. These activities include;
Walking
Hiking
Running
Skating, Skiing
Geocache

If the cold weather makes you want to stay inside, there are still ways to stay fit! There are plenty of resources out there (try YouTube.com, Blogilates.com, FitDay.com, Popsugar.com, Self.com, Fitness.com) that will provide you at-home workouts that require no equipment at all. WebMD suggests the following indoor activities:
Yoga/Pilates
Swimming
Bowling
Taking the stairs

There are plenty of ways to stay in shape, despite the changing weather, but it’s up to you to make the move and take control of your health! Also remember that exercise and a healthy diet pair well together, so be sure to keep up those healthy eating habits during the holidays!
